A critically-acclaimed superhero film franchise is set to return to screens for its second instalment this week, promising a hilarious, if not family-friendly, experience.

Deadpool 2 hits cinemas on Tuesday, with fans eagerly awaiting the comeback of the foul-mouthed yet witty hero.

Ryan Reynolds stars as Wade Wilson, a disgraced special forces operative who takes up work as a mercenary.

In the first film he is diagnosed with terminal cancer, abandoning his loved ones so they do not witness his demise.

But he meets a mysterious man, named Ajax, offering him a cure for his cancer, and the serum he receives – in defeating the disease – leaves him mutated with extreme scarring across his body.

In his attempts to find Ajax, Wilson becomes masked vigilante Deadpool on a mission to exact revenge.

After travelling a blood-stained path to hunt down Ajax, he kills him and his men before promising he will be more well-behaved and heroic in the future – though that seems unlikely.

The superhero genre is dominating box offices at the moment, with the recent release of Avengers: Infinity War getting movie buffs talking.

And with fellow Marvel franchise Deadpool set for its second appearance, fans can expect the same high-quality production coupled with no-holds-barred humour which has broken the mould for superhero films.

Tickets are available online at or from the cinema.
