DRAGONS, legends, fantasy and adventure are the order of the day as the eagerly anticipated Eragon arrives at the Odeon in Weston. The medieval tale, based on the Christopher Paolini fantasy novel, revolves around a farm boy, Eragon, who learns he is the last of a breed of benevolent Dragon Riders, whose magical powers are derived from their bond with the beasts. In his homeland of Alagaesia, the boy, played by relative newcomer Ed Speleers, happens upon a dragon's egg. The discovery leads him down a path which sees him become a knight, and so he embarks on a predestined journey where he realises he's the one person who can defend his home against an evil king. With a cast including Ed Speleers, Jeremy Irons, Sienna Guillory and John Malkovich, Eragon looks set to be this year's big Christmas hit.* The Weston & Somerset Mercury has teamed up with the Odeon, Weston, to offer five lucky readers the chance to each win a pair of tickets to see any film of their choice, subject to availability. To enter, please answer the following question: On whose fantasy novel is the film based? * Closes 9 am on December21.Usual Archant rules apply and the editor's decision is final.
