Mixture of music for all

THE Trinity Singers is a well-established choir with an age range spanning 50 years.
The weekly rehearsals are full of fun and enjoyment, with a mixture of church and concert music being practiced.
The choir’s most recent performance was staged in March, when members successfully tackled Johann Sebastian Bach’s Magnificat, which is renowned for being an extremely difficult piece to perform.
For that concert, the singers were joined by members of Churchill Community School’s choir.
This resulted from the group’s close links with schools in the surrounding area and past concerts have also involved pupils from the village’s primary school.
Two major concerts are put on by the choir every year, one around Easter and one in the autumn, with more regular church service performances in between.
For the bigger concerts, the choir is joined by an orchestra, made up of talented musicians, called The Trinity Players.
Musical director and founder of the group, Jeremy Martin, said: “As well as holding rehearsals, the choir arrange social events and some of us even venture to the pub after a practice to wind down.
“We are a very friendly group and it is nice that all our members, aged from 20 to 70, have fun at the same time.”
Choir members are currently trying to set up a link with a similar group based in Florence, Italy, which would involve them visiting each other to perform together.
Jeremy, aged 39, said: “This has not yet been confirmed but it will be an exciting venture if we succeed in setting the link up.”
The group’s next concert will be held on June 22 at Churchill Court. The ensemble will be joined by pupils from Churchill Primary School and Churchill Community School, along with members of the Chamber Choir of the National Youth Choir.
