Motoring down memory lane

The prestigious Haynes International Motor Museum, at Sparkford in Somerset, offers an excellent day out for everyone.
With more than 340 cars and bikes displayed in stunning style, dating from 1886 to the present day, it is the largest international motor museum in Britain.
For those interested in a nostalgic trip down memory lane, the museum offers a host of familiar names such as Austin, MG, and Morris. Whilst for those seeking something more exotic there is a vast array of performance cars, from modern classics such as the Dodge Viper and the Jaguar XJ220, to the more historic Jaguar E Type and AC Cobra.
lso on show is a large collection of American cars, including the jewels in the crown of Haynes - the V16 Cadillac, and the million-dollar Duesenberg.
New arrivals to the museum exhibits include the Ferrari 360 Modena, a Rolls Royce ‘Special’ with a 27-litre Merlin engine, as used in the famous World War Two Spitfire fighter plane and the new Autogame Experience.
This allows visitors to play arcade games of the 50s and 60s, retro 80s classics including ‘Pole Position’ and 90’s favourites such as ‘Sega Rally’ to Cycraft, the ultimate race car simulator.
Also for the children there is the brand new kids’ race track, themed play area, fabulous play-bus, and many other activities. Throughout the year the museum also hosts lots of exciting events including school holiday activity days, mini stunt shows, live action days and dream car rides.
