Paula backs campaign

KEEN travellers now have even more reason to help support a Weston charity.
Sunshine Radio launched its fund-raising, Taking Over The World, earlier this year, with support from the Weston & Somerset Mercury. It is asking members of the public to buy one of its T-shirts and then have their picture taken wearing it somewhere interesting across the globe.
This week the charity revealed it has secured an exciting prize for the best photo.
The winner of the coveted title will bag a Virgin Experience Day voucher, which means they will be able to choose from exciting activities such as bungee jumping, driving a Ferrari or enjoying a flying lesson.
Marcus Tripp, of Sunshine Radio, was contacted by a company called EU Signs which is run by Fiona Jackson, who used to live in Weston and regularly comes back.
She has been following the campaign and wanted to help out Sunshine Radio so she donated the prize which Virgin also added to to make the voucher even more valuable.

The latest picture we have had for the campaign is of former Weston mayor, Paula Howell, on her travels (above).
The photos were taken on a holiday to Singapore and Koh Samui after she finished her year in office.
n Sunshine Radio has won first prize in this year’s North Somerset Good Neighbour Awards.
It received its £200 first prize from North Somerset Council chairman Councillor David Shopland. 
The awards are sponsored by take-away company Miss Millie’s Fried Chicken and organised in conjunction with the council. The entrants were judged by a panel of councillors and officers from North Somerset Council.
The awards were created to recognise achievement by groups working in the community.
