Roy Hart
19th March 2008
A WELL-KNOWN Weston businessman has died at the age of 65.
Roy Hart suffered a heart attack at Cheltenham Race Course on March 11.
The father-of-two was rushed to the town's hospital but died three days later.
Mr Hart, who attended Kewstoke Primary, St Martin's and Worle Schools, married his wife, Joan, in 1966 after meeting her on a blind date three years earlier.
The couple, who most recently lived together in Banwell, went on to have a son, Andrew, aged 37 and a daughter, 39-year-old Elaine.
The horse racing fan, who also had a two-year-old grandson, James, opened his first garage, Roy Hart Motors in The Scaurs, in Worle, in 1968, before moving his business to Winterstoke Road, in Weston, 25 years later.
His wife, 60-year-old Joan, said: "He was a gentle and loving man.
"We met when I was 15 and did everything together. We travelled to the Caribbean and other places around the world and worked side by side as well."
Mr Hart's funeral will be held at St Andrew's Church, off Church Street, Banwell, tomorrow (Fri) at 1pm. Everyone can attend and flowers are welcome. Alternatively, donations can be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
My special brother Roy, my rock, my friend I will always love and miss you.
I will miss our chats when you came round for haircuts.
It won’t be the same when you’re not around anymore.
Good night sleep in peace.
God Bless my loving brother.

My Uncle Roy. Always happy, always helpful and always an inspiration, you will be greatly missed but I will always treasure my memories of good times with you.
Here's to many childhood summers, riding in a Tractor Cab with you.
Love always, Chris
Well I've got so many happy and funny memories of Roy from the pub and when we used to go racing, he has been very kind to Vern and myself over the years so big respect to the Big Man
Love Kate & Vern x
George and I were so very sorry to hear the sad news that Roy had passed away.
We have many good memories of Roy during the many summers he and Andy baled our hay.
He was always very kind to us and was always willing to help us out.
He had a great sense of humour and he was a lovely man - we were only reminiscing with him last summer.
Our thoughts are with Roys family at this very difficult time.
