GIVING YOUNG PEOPLE A VOICE!

Ellie’s bus on the streets

11th October 2007

A YOUTH Opportunity funded project is hitting the roads of North Somerset to bring entertainment to young people who perhaps can’t reach their local youth club.
The Ellie Bus, so called because Ellie Silk, aged 15, from Redhill devised the idea, will allow young people to become creative and chill out.
Youth Matters visited the bus to check out what was available and we had a fantastic time. There was so much to do that you could easily spend a whole evening on the bus.
There was a professional DJ teaching how to use the decks, a guitar to strum on, keyboards and other instruments to play with as well as free internet access from inside the bus.
The young people we spoke to on the bus said it was fantastic and a great facility for young people in the more rural areas of North Somerset.
Ellie, pictured above, will prove a welcome addition to the buses John and Percy already operating four evenings a week in North Somerset across Weston and the surrounding rural villages.
