6th December 2007

A BAND in Weston has followed in the footsteps of music giants like Radiohead by releasing its music online.
The Accelerators, now in its 18th year, has re-released its festive hit, Christmas is a pain in the a***, four years after it was first played on BBC radio.
Founding member Mike Charles, of Upper Kewstoke Road, who wrote the song, has put it on music download websites including iTunes and napster.
The 46-year-old former Mendip Green First School pupil said: “The song featured on TV soap Emmerdale on Christmas Day 2003 and is now downloaded in countries including America, Canada and France.”
The Accelerators has four band members - Mike on bass guitar and vocals, his former classmate Paul Hatton, Ian Housley and Sean Pocock, from Swindon.
The band will perform the song when it plays at a public concert at Weston Fire Station on December 15. Tickets are available from the station in Milton Avenue.
