Postman’s spooky song hits Vegas
21st February 2008

WESTON’S very own singing postman is getting airplay for his latest release Halloween on a Las Vegas radio station.
Dean Farnell, of South Road, Weston, received coverage from national papers with his first track, ‘Why don’t Christmas Go Away (I’m bored with the Wizard of Oz)’ and it was a download hit on the iTunes music download site after it was exclusively featured in the Weston & Somerset Mercury.
Halloween, which Dean describes as a quirky rock track warning people of the spooky side of the day, is receiving airplay twice a day from Las Vegas’ newest radio station, Halloween Radio.
The station, which is dedicated to playing darker tracks such as music by Metallica and haunting themes from films, decided to play the track following an e-mail from Dean informing them of the song.
Dean said: “When I heard Halloween for the first time on the station I couldn’t believe it - it didn’t feel real. Now I have had airplay from one station in America, my plan is to e-mail lots of others - this could be a real springboard for me.”
The 45-year-old is also set to release another track, A Man from Japan, a humorous song about people who are always in a rush and have no time to talk to each other.
Both tracks will be available to download from www.iTunes.com by the end of March.
Dean has written a total of 15 quirky tracks and each demo is produced at Farmtracks Recording Studio in Banwell.
