Makeover for vandals' hotspot
10 March 2010
A PUBLIC garden in Weston which has become a honeypot for vandals and troublemakers is being redeveloped.
Madeira Cove's rockery area will be revamped to give walkers and people using its Victorian shelter a safe place to sit and views across the bay.
The work is due to be completed this summer and has won the backing of Weston hotels and restaurants association chairman Keith Fearn.
Mr Fearn, who runs the Monaco Hotel, in Knightstone Road, said: "There is a buzz about the place and a real feeling that all the work going on in the town will undoubtedly change things for the better and improve our prospects for the future."
Cash for the refurbishment is coming from an £851,447 pot given to Weston by the Government's Sea Change programme.
