A DANCE festival held in Weston proved so popular organisers are already planning the 2010 event.

WSM Streetfest saw more than 5,000 turn out to enjoy local dance acts and famous troop Nemesis - who appeared on Britain's Got Talent.

The two-day event was held on the Beach Lawns and saw enthusiasts from across the South West gather to watch the dancing and take part in workshops.

This year was the very first free dance festival and organiser Steve Young has even bigger and better plans for 2010.

He said: "We had an excellent turn out and couldn't have wished for a better event.

"We expected about 500 people to turn up but it was more like 5,000 in the end.

"Nemesis seemed to be really popular and their manager has already confirmed their booking for next year.

"Over the next few months we are hoping to hold similar events all over the country, with the finalists and runners-up coming to the 2010 Weston event for a big national dance off final."

The date for next year's event will be September 11 and 12, although the location has yet to be revealed.

Now organisers are eagerly applying for funding and looking for sponsors to help the dance festival be a success.

Mr Young added: "This year we had an absolutely superb weekend, but next year will be even better.
