Pupils scoop gardening award

YOUNGSTERS at a Weston School have been getting their hands dirty on the way to a special award for their gardening prowess.

Pupils at Mendip Green have been awarded a certificate of merit in the recent Neighbourhood Awards from Britain in Bloom.

Judges said they were 'particularly impressed' by the creation of a greenhouse suing plastic bottles instead of glass.

Children from the school's gardening club are pictured with the award, supported by headteacher Bruce Dale, and teacher Maggie Simons, who heads the club.
