A PORTISHEAD school is looking for businesses to work with pupils as part of a new qualification.
With the support of the town's Chamber of Commerce, Gordano School has set up the Gordano Enterprise Network, which aims to develop a network of businesses that can support pupils, not only by offering work placements but also talking to students about their businesses and hosting visits to their workplace.
Gordano is a centre of excellence for the Diploma Programme, a qualification for 14-19-year-olds, with three levels of study - Foundation, Higher and Advanced - being available alongside GCSEs, A levels and apprenticeships.
The diplomas involve offering real opportunities for learners to develop skills relevant to the modern labour market, with a strong focus on functional and employment skills.
A key part to the success for students is to be able to access local and national employers and businesses.
Businesses willing to get involved can find out more by contacting the school on 01275 842606.
