AMBITIOUS plans to develop a 55-acre area of greenbelt land near Wraxall and Flax Bourton include building 500 houses and a new community hall.
There is also the potential to create a new doctors surgery, village green, primary school and a new gas supply on the site, which borders Failand.
The scheme, which has been compiled by FLP of the Gladman Group, could also feature affordable homes and a children's play area.
Leaflets detailing the plans have been posted through front doors in Failand, Wraxall and Flax Bourton inviting residents to put their views forward about the project.
However, a working group has now been set up to campaign against the proposals.
Group member John Chapman said: "Within a week of the plans being made public, I think about 150 people had written to the developer to show their shock and outrage at the plans."
Residents will be able to find out more and also comment on the plans at two consultation events.
They will be held at the Avon Room, Redwood Hotel and Country Club on July 30 from 2-8pm and at Long Ashton Village hall on July 31 from 2-8pm.
Letters can alos be sent to yourviews@gladman.co.uk or FLP, Gladman House, Alexandria Way, Congleton, Cheshire, CW12 1LB.
A planning application has not yet been submitted to North Somerset Council.
