WESTON Motor Club have lost their fight to retain the Brean Stages Rally for 2010. Club chairman Peter Brace was understandably disappointed at the outcome.
"We've put in a lot of effort to come to a resolution and thought that we might at least have an opportunity to agree terms for co-promotion with the newly formed Club Rally Sport West. When our proposals for an enduring relationship were turned down, it became apparent that an agreement would not be reached."
The club will now concentrate on securing another venue in the South West to revive the spirit of local motor sport and will still be welcoming entrants to the Sandocross event on Weston beach.

THERE is a new look to the South West's annual premier stage rally held at Brean Leisure Park, the 2010 has a new sponsor, K & R Mitsubishi, Taunton's recently established Mitsubishi dealership. The rally will therefore be called the K & R Mitsubishi Stages Rally, in recognition of its sponsor.
The principle organising team remains the same but the event will be promoted by Club Rallysport West. The rally will be held over the weekend of January 30 and 31 within the confines of the Brean Leisure Park. Over the years rallying at Brean has proved extremely popular with competitors from all around the UK.
Among the entries expected for the event are drivers who will be out to defend their 2009 Cotswold Motorsport Group Championship titles, and who hope to start the new season in a winning style, so it is expected that the competition will be extremely tight, right the through the classes.
The rally will contain a range of cars, from the ever popular Ford Escorts in various guises, Vauxhall Novas, Corsas, and Peugeots, through to the more exotic, state of the art world rally cars, such as the Subaru Impreza, Mitsubishi Evos, Ford Focus and, of course, the iconic Metro 6R4s, with their awesome turn of speed.
The organisers have ensured that spectators are well catered for, with covered seated grandstands and heated al-fresco snacks available in the spectator zone. All other indoor catering facilities will also be available within the park.
Spectators will be admitted to the park over both days of the rally by way of a car parking charge only, which will includes a souvenir rally programme.
The rally will also be supporting the charity 'Help for Heroes'.
