A BIG-HEARTED tale of two children's adventure to save the last real Santa makes its UK premier in Taunton next week.

When Santa Fell To Earth, written by The Thief Lord, Dragon Rider and Inkworld trilogy author Cornelia Funke, comes to The Brewhouse Theatre, in Coal Orchard, from Monday until January 2.

Adapted into a screenplay by Robert Miles, who also directs, the story centres around Ben and Charlotte who save the passengers of a Christmas caravan which fall from the sky on a dark and stormy December night.

Niklas Goodfellow, a real-life Santa Claus, two angels and assorted elves are tipped out when mischievous reindeer Twinklestar bolts from his reigns and crash lands into the children's neighbourhood.

They soon find out they are in terrible danger as a treacherous bunch from Yule Land - Gerold Goblynch and his bad santas - are on their trail and they will stop at nothing to steal Christmas.

The cast, each with a long list of theatrical credits to their name, includes William St Clair as Niklas Goodfellow, Bristol-based actor Tom Wainwright who plays Ben, Natasha Godfrey as Charlotte, Joseph Carey who plays multiple roles including the evil Gerold Goblynch, Simon Norbury as the reindeer Twinklestar, Hannah Summers and Daniel Copland.

The creative team includes choreographer Louise Barrett, composer Nick Brace, designer Sophie Mosberger, lighting designer Will Scarnell and sound designer Amy Spencer.
