I AM UPSET THAT PEOPLE IN THE UK CAN BUY A TICKET FOR T4 ON THE BEACH AND TRY TO SELL IT FOR OVER £75 PER TICKETS. WHEN SOME OF US IN WESTON CAN NOT GET HOLD OF THEM.
THIS IS TOTALLY UNFAIR AND EBAY SHOULD NOT ALLOW THEM TO SELL TICKETS ON THEIR SITE.
ALSO TRUST OUR LOCAL NORTH SOMERSET COUNCIL " TICKETS FOR THE YOUTH COUNCIL TICKETS" EVEN THOES ARE GIVEN FOR FREE. FREE TICKETS ARE SELLING FOR OVER £50.00 ON EBAY.
TAX PAYERS MONEY WASTD FUNDED THIS FESTIVAL YET WESTONS LOSE OUT AND HAVE TO PAYE TOWARDS THIS EVENT BUT CAN NOT GET A TICKET.
WHAT SHOULD BE DONE IS AS FOLLOWS:
IF YOU ARE FROM WESTON AND CAN PROVE YOU PAYE COUNCIL TAX HERE THEIR SHOULD BE A REDUCE PRICE FOR TICKETS ALL AT LEAST MORE THEN A WEEK NOTICE BEFORE GENERAL SALE IN THE UK.
I BLAME EBAY AND OUR SO CALLED NORTH SOMERSET COUNCIL
I agree with the above, as of 7.30am on sunday 20th july over 300 tickets was still on sale on ebay some reaching oer £100 per ticket, problem is as follows many brought tickets expecting top acts but got let down, many are just out there to double their money and make a quick buck. But I am sure there are some fakes on sale.
thousands of cash pulled in from other resources just to bring over 70,000 people in weston , yes in principle is good for publicity and local retailers but at what cost who losers out, weston folk who's hard earn cash is put into this event from council tax which is suppose to support our local council and services.
I am not against anything that brings in publicity to weston but feel that our so called north somerset council needs to rethink and get up out of there lazy backsides and do some positive for weston instead of all mouth and no trousers..... sacked them all and bring in someone who cares for this famous sea side resort
I am not aware of any free tickets being sold on ebay, just ones that have been bought and are being sold on. This is quite common for all kinds of events and it really is nothing to do with the council! Tickets were on sale at the tourist information bureau so every Weston resident had plenty of opportunity to get one and several of the local job agencies were advertising for staff for the day so that would of been another way to attend.
Regarding the youth council members, these children do lots of good work for the town and shouldn't be penalised for receiving tickets, they are after all only children.
I think that T4 is an fantastic assest to us in Weston, if you watched the show it promoted the beach as a beautiful stretch of sand and Weston as the place to visit, this is what we need to keep our tourist industry succesful, what better way than ensuring generations of visitors in the future who will want to come back and visit because they had a good time here when they were young.
I would agree with you, that if youth council members were given free tickets it would be a pleasant perk for them - no harm done.
But the truth is, the tickets weren't free. They were given to the youth council in return for a substantial cash contribution - cash from the youth council budget, which comprises taxpayers' money.
So, since you and I effectively bought the tickets for these youngsters, if they are indeed being sold on Ebay, I think we're entitled to feel disgruntled.
I think we need to clarify a few points here:
Weston Town Youth Council were initially responsible for T4 first coming to Weston, since then, they have come a record 4 times, each time bringing untold millions of pounds worth of trade to the area.
Top Acts ,as was a criticism levelled before, depends entirely on your tastes and the sales recorded in the weeks leading up to an event which is organised several months in advance.
This is a one day event which showcases a long list of popular acts rather than a week long festival or a one act plus support concert and must be seen as such, therefore reflecting the price of tickets.
The tickets are sold by the promoter not the council and once sold, are the responsibility of the buyer, not those who sold them. If the buyer wishes to sell them on at a vastly inflated price, known as 'scalping', then that is not the responsibilty of the original promoter or the council.
Council Tax pays for coucnil services, Police and street lighting and many other municipal services. It doesn't include nationally promoted entertainment events.
The same applies to those living near Glastonbury, The O2 Arena in London, The Manchester GMEX or any other national events host.
The fact that you are lucky enough to live in a town that is popular with tourists and promoters alike is a bonus, not a cross to bear.
Weston has been growing in size faster than almost any other equivalent resort/town and this is in no small part due to the efforts put in by a large number of people to make the town a hive of activity, an attraction for businesses and tourists and safe and welcoming place to live and raise a family.
Had Weston remained the sleepy, retirement village that it was in danger of becoming, the decline of our local industries and our quailty of life would have seen a mass exodus not the applaudable growth and expansion we now have.
I'm afraid this and other petty complaints just shows what some people in Weston have become: Spoilt, selfish and unambitious money grabbers who want something for nothing and feel the world owes them a living.
As in many places, you need to get away and look at your home town from an outside perspective to realise just what a jewel we have.
Just on a point of principle - since you mentioned Glastonbury, it's worth mentioning that a percentage of tickets for the festival are sold only to nearby residents and those living in postcode areas in a close proximity to the site.
Perhaps a similar scheme would be a way to ensure that things like T4 could be enjoyed by more people from Weston, as opposed to just those who use their priveleged position and taxpayers' money to buy them?

Agreed. I was going to add that we should wait until T4 reaches Glasto proportions, but ,judging from the two stages at this years show, maybe getting in early before the rush would be sensible.
Watering down the profits and depleting the appeal to those outside of the area now would be a much better and more efficient way of killing of one of the few good things to happen to the town than just letting nature take its course.
On a more serious note, with more people under financial threat and holidays in the UK due to become more popular, maybe a season ticket or day ticket encompassing all the attractions in the surrounding area would be a good idea?
Now that is a great idea. T4 weekend tickets including passes to Weston's myriad attractions, such as... um... er...
Ace idea in principle. Not really all that appealing in practice.
