A hundred years gone up in smoke, that was the news i heard when i woke. Weston pier has been raised to the ground and as yet no cause has been found.
The tourist coaches coming in to the town with happy holiday makers willing to spend a few pounds, the pier was the place they all loved to meet to sit in the sun and take the weight off their feet.
But now it is gone and all that remains is the steel at the base all battered and bent. But there's one thing i have learned since i have worked in your town that Weston's spirit is strong and I'm sure well see a new pier before very long.

it would be good if the old birnbeck pier was still in use or it will be great if they did somethin with it so then when things like this happens theres always another the truble is tho that people take places like that for granted and im not one of them and never will be because nothin stayes for ever unlike the poor birnbeck pier it dont deserve it espetialy the grand pier thats the best i always felt the magic when i enterd the old girl but now shes burnt hope i feel the magic in the new 1

I loved the idea of the arts centre at Birnbeck that somebody put in another thread.

Wouldn't that just be so great... ??

That whole end of Weston would so lend itself to a bohemian arty atmosphere... the kids on the donkeys etc. aren't going to want to venture that far afield to play pacman (or whatever it is that kids do these days) so leave the arcade/dodgem concept to Grand Pier and the culture to Birnbeck Island.
