I'm worried about the fuschia

The flowers on my fuschia keep drooping and falling off.

How can I prevent this?

Wilko, droopy fushcias are always going to be a worry but I'd advise looking at your watering regime first and foremost.Fuschias like a bit of water but can take being dry more happily than being sodden. Where are you keeping them? If they are too hot they won't enjoy it either. If you keep them in a greenhouse or conservatory, try a bit of shading. If they are indoors, move them to a windowsill that isn't in direct sun. Try to emulate the natural conditions and aim for humid but not hot, moist but not drowning. If you have recently potted them on , they will still have a smallish root ball and won't be able to take up all the water the new pot can hold.

Remember my blog about air and water, the roots need both so allow for the water to drain out and let air into the rootball.

If all else fails, turn them out and look for white/grey grubs in the soil. They would be vine weevil grubs and they feast on the roots if you are really unlucky.

Good luck. let me know if things improve.

Thanks TGK.

I think we may be over-watering.

The leaves are also turning pale and dropping as well, if that can shed any light on things.

Cheers,

Wilko

In the words of the famous Churchill,

Oh Yes!!!

Droopy bits all going a bit pale?

Too much water. No question. Stand it somewhere out of direct sunlight, not draughty and let the poor thing drain for a couple of days. There is no safe way to rush the drying out process but when the leaves start to turn turgid, regaining a bit of bounce, then add some plant feed to the next, small, watering to act as a tonic. Wait until you start to see a small gap between the pot and the soil, just the start though.

Good luck and thanks for your very interesting question.
