The footy season begins (hurrah!) at the weekend... anyone got any predictions for the new campaign?
I'll go for:
* Liverpool to be out of the title race before Christmas. Again.
* Kevin Keegan to resign before the end of October.
* England to struggle badly in World Cup qualifying, but sneak through.
* Bolton to be relegated.
* Cristiano Ronaldo to decide he wants to play for "Real Madrid... no, wait, Manchester United... er, I mean Madrid.... nope, United..."
* David Bentley to prove the biggest waste of £17million ever.
* Javier Mascherano to be sent off for being a gobby little scrote.
* Southampton to "do a Leeds" and plummet to League One.
...but shocked to see Roy Keane's exit at Sunderland. Personally, though they've had a wee sticky patch in recent weeks, I thought he'd done a pretty good job there.
Sunderland are not great, but they're emphatically better than when he took over, and they have improved steadily in each season.
I don't really know what caused this parting of the ways, but Sir Alex Ferguson now says he thinks it's quite likely that Keane will walk away from football for good. I'm inclined to agree - though I think the sport will be a poorer place for his absence.
