Quite staggeringly quick progress - if only the rebuilding would be as swift...
the re-building will be a smooth process and shouldnt really take long , why take a negative view the owners have vowed to get the pier operational as quickly as possible to have the best we all need to be patient and wait for the big surprise when the grand pier pavillion re-opens to the public .

I am not doubting or questioning the owners - no-one can fail to be impressed by their determination, imagination and ambition.
However, one might wonder delayed their efforts might be by planning red tape - one only has to look a few hundred metres along the promenade to see how much of a hold-up such things can cause...

i think if any red tape , i.e. planning permission is an obstacle it will only be our beloved north somerset council that will block this project as our council seems to balls everthing up , i would love to do their job as i think i would do a much better job than what our lazy , overpaid councillors are doing right now , anyone agree with me i think it is time that normal people like us should have a place on this council for our own in put and to also be heard

Re: Grand Pier Webcam
I wish the webcam was pointing straight towards the pavilion, rather than on a diagonal which seems to offer no advantage apart from to put the pier in context, with Knightstone and Birnbeck behind... but I think most of us know where the pier is already... I don't get to Weston that often and am not actually that sure what it is I'm looking at in the pictures... is the wreckage that I'm seeing this morning the front of the pavilion or have they cleared some of the front and that's further back?? Also, have they removed that fairground thing that used to propel people up in the air yet?
Did I ever link to my pics from the early afternoon day of the fire, btw? If not, they're here. Tried to capture the human element of the event, rather than the same old images of the wreckage itself.
