Difficult to tell without getting an aerial view and I thought maybe we could ask Councillor Helicopter to go up for a recce!
From the Prom, it looks very bare, and dark. Last Saturday evening was the first time I had seen it after dark and it was terribly gloomy except for the very few luminous green lights left at the Prom end of the pier. It also has a sort of 'riding light' at the end, for passing shipping maybe?
Old Westonians never die, they go out on the tide...
Hi Zensplanet - The speed had to be reduced because it was crashing the server regularly which is why the camera went offline or froze several times. Hopefully we will be able to move it to a local server and then try it again at 3 secs.
The webcam on the Grand Pier site was, btw, still refreshing every 3 seconds not so long ago, whereas the WM had gone to a minute as previously mentioned, but at present there's either a total solar eclipse in Weston or it's died!
The webcam is working fine. There was a problem a few days ago when the electricity was cut due to work being carried out, but that was fixed and it's been working fine since.
I think the grand pier webcam should be streamed in windows media format then we can all see the webcam in realtime data and it would also use less resources than the current java based cam does maybe this is something the guys at weston mercury can consider as to be honest i think the windows media option would be far better and even better quality too maybe add some sound seagulls perhaps ..
