UPDATE: Roads re-open after flooding but drivers are warned to expect delays and should avoid the area if possible

Some roads in Weston-super-Mare are expected to face heavy traffic as the flooding clear-up continues this evening (Tuesday).

Motorists driving along roads particularly hard hit by the rain on Sunday and Monday will likely face delays tonight.

These include the A370 at the West Wick roundabout, Elmham Way, Bransbay Way and Summer Lane.

This is all due to the flooding from yesterday.

Avon Fire and Rescue Service and the Environment Agency have been pumping out 4,000 litres of water a minute from the Locking Castle area.

But the pumps are being turned off this evening to help traffic flow during the busiest periods.

The council is asking drivers to avoid the area if possible, and take extra care on their journeys.

* Two schools which were closed today will re-open on Wednesday.
