HAVE your children already discovered the wonderful world of books? Or is reading one of life’s pleasures they have yet to encounter?
One Mercury reader, Ron Ellis from Milton, has very kindly donated a large selection children’s books as competition prizes to give youngsters a chance to experience first hand the pleasure that only the written word can bring.
There are four prizes aimed at children aged between eight to 13 – which includes books by famous authors such asg Michael Morpurgo (War Horse and Born To Run), Joan Aiken (The Cuckoo Tree and The Wolves Of Willoughby Chase), Magdalen Nabb (Twilight Ghost) and Elizabeth Goudge (The Little White Horse).
In addition to the wonderful novels Mr Ellis has also included The A To Z Of Almost Everything – A Compendium Of General Knowledge – a reference book which will last into adulthood and be referred to again and again.
In order to win one of these fabulous sets of books, each containing a selection from the authors named above, simply send your answer to the competition question along with your name, your child’s name and age, address, and if possible a daytime telephone number, to Children’s Books Competition, Weston, Worle & Somerset Mercury, 32 Waterloo Street, Weston-super-Mare, BS23 1LW, before the closing date of May 25.
