A woman from North Somerset marked her 105th birthday with a family celebration.

Gladys Fenning, of Clarence Park Nursing Home in Clarence Road, Weston, marked her birthday on May 23 with a party at the home, attended by her daughters Beryl Nutting and Barbara Ffooks.

A number of cards were sent to Mrs Fenning, but it is safe to say her favourite was penned by Her Majesty the Queen to commemorate this special milestone.

Mrs Fenning said she ‘had a wonderful day and it was so special to have something from the Queen’.

She added: “I couldn’t believe the beautiful cake that Helen, the chef, made for me.”
