A POTENTIAL opening date for Weston's new Merlin Cinema might have been teased on social media.
The new cinema will take the place of the town's former ODEON, which closed its doors in June.
Once opened, the cinema will be known as the PLAZA Weston-super-Mare.
Posting on Facebook, a spokesperson from Visit Weston-super-Mare said: "Exciting news coming soon.
"Check-back soon as we’ve got some brilliant news to share!"
This post included hashtags such as #notlongnow and #movietime.
Speaking at the time of the purchase, Geoff Greaves, director of Merlin Cinemas, said: “Seeing a film at the cinema with family or friends is a very different experience to watching the film at home.
"With modern digital projection and sound, it is more memorable, and offers a sense of occasion."
Having started in 1990, Merlin Cinemas operate in mainly coastal and rural locations. The company aims to repurpose heritage buildings that have been part of the lives of local people for generations.
