COASTGUARDÂ rescue crews from Burnham and Weston rushed to assist a man who had collapsed on Brean Down last week.
Crews were called out to help the ambulance service with a medical evacuation just before 1.30pm on Friday, February 9.
The gentleman had collapsed whilst he was near the highest point of the Down, meaning that a stretcher would have been needed to bring him to safety.
However, he was able to carefully make his way down on his own, guided by a crew member.
Posting on Facebook, a spokesperson from the Burnham Coastguard Rescue Team said: "Our team was asked to assist the ambulance with a medical evacuation at the top of the Down, a mature gentleman was out walking and collapsed prompting an emergency call to the ambulance service.
"As he was near the highest point of the Down it would've meant a stretcher carry to safety down the uneven rocky path.
"After some assessments by the ambulance crew the gentleman was able to make his way slowly down the path under his own steam. Guided by one of our team members for safety.
"He was then given a more thorough assessment in the ambulance."
