A WESTON couple are celebrating their landmark 65th wedding anniversary today (Thursday, March 21).
Geoff and Mary Stocker, who are both in their 80s, first met in the old Fella’s Ice Cream Parlour on Regent Street.
Mary, originally from Cheddar, explained how she met Geoff through friends after attending a dance in the Winter Gardens.
Eventually, Geoff asked to walk Mary home, which Mary said was “how they did things in those days.”
When asked what the secret to a successful marriage is, Mary, who worked as a carer and assistant manager at the former Russell House Care Home, quoted some advice her father gave her, which was to “be tolerant.”
Geoff, who used to work in insurance, agreed.
The couple describe themselves as being “very lucky” and said that they have “collected a lot of friends” over the years.
They have two children and four grandchildren.
Congratulations on your Blue Sapphire anniversary Mary and Geoff!
