THE mayor of Weston, Cllr Ciaran Cronnelly, will be running a half marathon to raise money for an RNLI crew member who passed away unexpectedly last year.
Christopher Lyons suddenly died on December 23, 2023 during emergency surgery at the Bristol Heart Institute after a problem with his heart was discovered only the evening before.
He was only 31.
Cllr Cronnelly said: "On Sunday, March 24, crew from the RNLI Weston-super-Mare will be running the Weston Super Half in memory of crew member Chris Lyons who died aged 31 before Christmas.
"They're raising money for Chris' 11 year old son Jenson and all donations will go towards a trust fund for him.
"The crew have regularly been training throughout the town and at the local park run. You may have spotted them in their blue #RunForBod tops.
"I'll be running with the crew at the half marathon too."
