A FARM site which has previously been used for self-catering accomodation before being damaged in a fire has gone up for sale.

Hurn Farm, in Brean, is looking for an investor or investors, who are interested in being involved in the recreation and expansion of a holiday cottage complex as shareholders, or individuals interested in buying parts of the site for their own projects.

The site is being marketed by Brent Knoll based property consultancy Strategic Trading Limited and broker Mark Warren.

It comprises a farmhouse, fire damaged (but partially refurbished) cottages, a habitable barn and another in need of conversion.

There is also sufficient land to enable an 'innovative development' of holiday lodges.

Hurn Farm's cottages have been rebuilt after the fire, but the owner’s plans have been delayed by ill health and they have decided to explore alternative options.

A spokesperson said: "We have known Mark Warren for a number of years and seen him put deals together, obtain planning and raise finance for various projects and we also knew he was bouncing back from a difficult period in his life."

Mark Warren believes the mix of main house, barn conversions, holiday cottage with timber lodges will make Hurn Farm stand out and offer year-round usage.

The owner is looking for four or five investors to join him in the new venture which will be a standalone business, and he is willing to accept stage payments as planning is obtained and more of the site comes on stream. The investment required is circa £200,000 per shareholder.

“It would be nice to see all that I planned and envisaged actually coming to life," he said.

“It would add to the tourist offering available at Brean, bring back some redundant buildings and the timber lodges, which are two storey and extremely eco-friendly, would be significantly different to the static caravans found in the area."
