BURNHAM area youth (BAY) centre’s planned kitchen refurbishment is to go ahead thanks to a £500 donation from Co-operative Funeralcare.

The money will help to finance the enhancement of the centre’s existing kitchen, which will see the cooker replaced and a modified cafe counter installed, to allow more flexible use of the facilities.

Burnham Co-operative Funeralcare are already regular users of the kitchen, holding Sunday morning church group meetings on the premises, and their donation will be pooled with an existing £500 anonymous grant for refurbishment.

Mike Lang, BAY vice chair, said: “We have around 500 people regularly using the BAY centre, and efficient cooking facilities are essential.”
