Weston has plenty to offer in terms of its attractions and leisure opportunities – but sometimes, you just can’t beat a spot of retail therapy. Here’s our pick of the 8 best shopping destinations in and around the town.
1. Sovereign Centre
The Sovereign Centre is located a stone’s throw from Weston seafront, and is arguably the town’s flagship shopping destination. The undercover mall boasts an impressive 35 brand-name retailers, including Marks and Spencer and JD Sports, with allocated parking for 850 cars.
2. High Street
Weston’s High Street is buzzing with a mix of big-name retailers and independent cafés and coffee shops. The compact street is usually packed on Saturdays and Sundays so, to avoid the crowds, a midweek shopping trip is almost certainly your best bet.
3. Orchard Meadows
This small collection of streets, which is tucked away behind the High Street and Alexandra Parade, is quite possibly the gem in Weston’s shopping crown. The area is home to the town’s independent traders, with its eclectic shops ranging from comic book store The Imaginarium to wedding dresses galore at Maria’s Bridal Boutique.
4. Grove Village
Located at the bottom of Weston’s idyllic Grove Park, the Village boasts a lively collection of small shops and bars. You can round off a day of shopping by catching a show at the Playhouse Theatre, at the bottom end of the High Street, or you can spend a tranquil afternoon at Jill’s Garden inside the park.
5. Worle High Street
Worle is sandwiched in between Weston town centre and the M5 motorway, making it easily accessible for just about everyone. Its diverse collection of shops makes it well worth a visit too – stores range from DIY outlets to hair salons and excellent takeaways.
The stunning city of Bath is a shopper’s haven, as the city’s relatively small size means all the major shops are located within walking distance of each other. However, Bath’s real beauty lies in its independent stores and small, cobbled streets – the entire city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and it really isn’t to be missed.
7. Cribbs Causeway, near Bristol
The Mall at Cribbs Causeway is the South West’s premier shopping destination, with a huge branch of John Lewis standing as its flagship store. Cribbs is north of Weston at junction 17 of the M5, and its impressive 135-shop collection means there really is something for everyone here.
8. Cabot Circus, Bristol
Cabot Circus is located in the heart of Bristol city centre, which can be reached in just half an hour from Weston by train or about 45 minutes by car. The modern complex includes all the major high street stores and popular restaurant chains, while Bristol’s historic sights and beautiful harbourside are also just a stone’s throw from the centre.
