A BURNHAM couple have celebrated their platinum wedding anniversary after 70 years of marriage.
John and Iris Chesney, of Berrow Road, met in Hertfordshire and were married there in 1942 when John, aged 90, had a brief period of leave from wartime army service.
Due to John’s work, he and Iris, aged 91, moved to Shropshire in 1964.
In 1975 the couple moved to Burnham, where they have lived ever since.
Until recently, John has been an active member of Burnham Bowls Club, and Iris is a very keen gardener.
They celebrated their 70 years on Sunday with a lunch with their family, which includes their two sons, four grandchildren and two great-grandsons.
