A Weston-super-Mare care home has received a good Care Quality Commission (CQC) rating after making ‘significant improvements’ during 2017.

Abbi Lodge, in Clifton Road, was told it ‘required improvement’ in August 2016 after an inspection found the home breached regulations relating to care and treatment of its residents.

However, the latest inspection ruled the care home provides a ‘safe, caring and effective service’ for all its residents after a new assistant manager was appointed last October.

The home provides accommodation for adults aged 65 or over who require nursing or personal care.

Abbi Lodge’s assistant manager Jasmine Mutch said: “We are delighted with this rating after making huge changes during the year and are so pleased they paid off.

“Our compliance officer was extremely helpful and we followed their advice by rearranging our staff which brought more structure to our operations.”
