A free event will take place in Weston’s Bournville estate to encourage people to take up new interests and hobbies during 2018.

Opportunities On Our Doorstep has been organised by Alliance Homes with the aim of providing people with new activities for the year.

Community project manager Mary Morgan said: “We’re making the most of the New Year spirit to showcase some of the great ways people can try something different.

“Our aim is that everyone who visits will go away having had a go at something, and turned an opportunity into an experience.

“After the success of our Winter Warmer back in December, we felt this would be the perfect way for people to start 2018.”

Options available to attendees include volunteer training, hobby groups, with local clubs and support agencies running stalls.

The event will take place at the For All Healthy Living Centre, in Lonsdale Avenue, on Tuesday from 1-4pm.
