OVERFLOWING dog poo bins have caused a stink on Streetlife this week.

Many users said they had spotted bins across Weston which had been left full of dog waste disposal bags, which were attracting flies and creating an unpleasant smell.

Stephen B began the thread by posting a photo of an overflowing dog bin in the town.

He said: “This (bin) is overflowing with bags of dog mess and is right next to the bus stop. I don’t blame the dog owners – in fact I applaud them for cleaning up.

“There are flies everywhere and it stinks. The bin hasn’t been emptied for five or six days.

“My solution would be to empty the bin daily or get rid of it altogether. What would your solution be?”

Caroline D said: “Put a polite notice (on the bin) asking people to take their litter and poo bags home if the bin is full.”

Penny P said: “It’s not just this bin. The dog poo bin in Maltlands Park has not been emptied for weeks and in this heat it is stinking.

“Have the bin emptiers gone on strike or something?”

Philip P added: “(It is) interesting to note that in warmer climates like Spain, rubbish is collected daily, presumably with these kinds of issues in mind.

“Given the purpose of these particular bins, it would seem sensible for them to be frequently checked and emptied.”

Emma F said: “We’ve noticed the dog bin near us in St Georges is always overflowing.

“People are parking at the end of our road to use the path along the fields and this appears to be the first bin everyone comes into contact with. The smell at the moment is terrible.”
