A WESTON artist has put down his paintbrush and hopped on his mountain bike to raise money for charity.
Lloyd Gill, who closed his gallery in Beaconsfield Road in March to pursue other ventures, will race in the Forest of Dean on Sunday in aid of Leukaemia Care.
Lloyd has been a keen mountain biker since the age of 18 and now aims to make his next ride in the MIJ Downhill event count even more by raising cash for the charity.
The 34-year-old said he wants to pull in as much cash as possible, and in his next ride he will pick another charity.
He said: “I am trying my hardest to race for the charity Leukaemia Care UK and raise money to support the research costs.
“I learnt my mountain biking skills here in Weston woods and train there most weeks.
“There is a local mountain bike scene and it needs to be encouraged more.”
Lloyd has set up a Facebook page dedicated to the ride and his support for the organisation which readers can access via www.facebook.com/ Lloydgillracing
While Lloyd does not have a specific donation page he is urging everyone to make donations via the charity’s website at www.leukaemiacare.org.uk/fundraisers and then post the amount they have given on his Facebook page.
