Two robberies and assaults which took place in Weston-super-Mare yesterday morning (Wednesday) are being linked to an axe-wielding gang who targeted Domino’s Pizza on the same day.

The Mercury reported yesterday how workers at the pizza chain were targeted by a gang of three men as they closed the Boulevard brand at around 1am on Wednesday.

However, Avon and Somerset Constabulary has today (Thursday) revealed that two other crimes which occurred minutes later could have been carried out by the same people.

A police spokesman told the Mercury: “A man was robbed and assaulted in Worthy Place at about 1.12am and five minutes later another man was robbed and assaulted in the South Terrace area.

“Our investigation is ongoing and we are continuing to carry out reassurance patrols in the area.”

Three men entered the pizza delivery shop wielding an axe yesterday just before 1am.

The men threatened the staff and damaged an interior door before leaving empty-handed.

Anyone who has information about the offence is asked to call 101 and quote reference number 5217255278.
