AWARDS have been given for 21 students for after-school projects at a Weston school.

Young people attending The Pod at Hans Price Academy since September 2010 have been given a total of 45 awards for their projects.

Five young people took part in a driving awareness course that combined hazard perception theory, vehicle maintenance and practical driving experience.

The babysitting course looked into child development, law, health and safety and they completed a first aid certificate to enhance confidence and skills when babysitting.

The cooking group learned how to cook basic meals and developed their awareness of diet, nutrition, healthy lifestyles and adopted good food hygiene practices.

The boys and young men’s group undertook an issue-based programme of activities which enable them to explore gender roles, stereotypes and personal and social development.
