Colourful lanterns brightened up a frosty evening in North Somerset as families enjoyed a light parade.

Blagdon Primary School sold lantern-making kits during its spring fair and children enjoyed decorating them ready for the festivities on Saturday.

Families met at the New Inn for drinks, before heading off on a lantern parade down to The Mead at 6pm.

Stars, hearts and sea creatures were just some of the decorations added to the lanterns by talented children.

The parade ended at the school with hot drinks, snacks and more colourful lights.

The event was organised by Blagdon Primary School’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA).

A spokesman said: “Thank you to everyone who came and supported the school at the sale and then the chilly but amazing lantern parade.”
