A WI group has presented a cheque for more than £1,500 to an important Weston charity.

The Bleadon Belles handed over a cheque for £1,650 to Weston General Hospital’s Scanner Appeal last week.

The Belles met with June Stephens, chair of the hospital’s League Of Friends, to present the result of their fundraising efforts.

The money was raised at a recent charity concert in Bleadon where various artists from the area, including Richard Lennox, Jordan Evans, Andy King and other talented musicians and singers performed to a packed hall.

In total, the Bleadon WI has raised more than £10,000 for the appeal, which will pay for a scanner for the hospital.

The new equipment will help hospital workers with diagnosing patients quicker and effectively, and therefore reduce waiting times.

The hospital’s League of Friends launched the appeal to raise £400,000.

To donate, text SCAN16 and the amount to 70070.
