Police have formally identified a body found in Bristol as Deakon Wilkins, aged 24.

Police have formally identified the body found in the Floating Harbour in Bristol on Sunday as 24-year-old missing man Deakon Wilkins from Weston-super-Mare.

Deakon was last seen leaving Motion nightclub, in Avon Street, in the early hours of January 14.

Deacon’s dad, Andy Wilkins, shared the news of Deakon’s death in an emotional Facebook post on Sunday evening in which he thanked everyone for their help during the four-week search for his son and said he will remember Deakon in ‘happy and good times’.

Police have today (Friday) confirmed they are not treating his death as suspicious, but said the force is carrying out further enquiries on behalf of the coroner’s office.

A spokesman from Avon and Somerset Constabulary said: “We’d like to thank the public for all their calls and help with our appeals to find Deakon and our thoughts remain with his family at this very difficult time.”
