Children and adults practised their lantern making skills at a Bournville workshop held in preparation for the Catch the Light parade.

This year the parade will be jungle themed, and Alliance Homes have organised workshops at the For All Healthy Living Centre, in St Andrew’s Parade.

Debbie Burke, organiser of the workshops, said: “We were aiming to have 100 lanterns made for the event, and we’ve passed that mark a fortnight before the parade.

“This is only the second year of the parade, but we hope that it will become an annual event, as we have been overwhelmed by the interest and are looking forward to the big night.”

The group have been supported by the Weston Lions to fundraise the parade through cake sales and sponsored walks.

Free activities will be held at Coniston Green from 4.30pm on Saturday 18.
