A bowls club has given more than £1,300 to a dementia charity.

The Isle of Wedmore Bowls Club gave a cheque worth £1,338 to Dementia UK, it’s chosen charity for the 2017-2018 season.

Players donated their winnings from finishing top of the Clevedon & District over-60s league and claiming the Charity Cup to the good cause.

Holly Draper from Dementia UK said the money will make a difference to his care service.

She said: “Thank you to all the members of the Isle of Wedmore Bowls Club for choosing to donate the winnings of these three leagues and the cup final to Dementia UK.

“The fundraising will help us provide dementia support for families through our Admiral Nurse service.

“They work alongside people with dementia and their families when things get challenging or difficult providing one to one support.”
