A pole dancing event in Brean raised £2,865 for a Somerset children’s charity.

Studio Essence staged their annual showcase event to raise money for The Rowan Suite, in Taunton’s Musgrove Park Hospital, which supports parents after childbirth bereavements.

The Beachcomber, in Warren Road, hosted the event and more than 100 people, including the friends and families of the performers, watched the studio’s members put on 22 different routines with a heroes and villains theme.

Studio Essence is based in Highbridge, in Hunstpill Road, and runs a variety of pole and aerial fitness sessions for all ages.

Sam Smith, the studio’s owner, said: “This is our eighth year of staging these showcase events now, and we have raised more than £15,000 in that time.

“After one of our students went through pregnancy complications, we decided to support The Rowan Suite and the amazing work they do.”
