Burnham-on-Sea’s Clarks shop, in High Street, will shut following a nationwide review by the retailer.

It is not known how many redundancies will be made.

A spokesman for Clarks said: “We have decided not to renew or take out a new lease on our Burnham store and it will be closing.

“We have a strong duty of care to our employees and are doing everything we can to minimise the impact on colleagues in Burnham, including ensuring they are made aware of roles in nearby Clarks stores in Worle, Congresbury and others.

“Clarks continually reviews all its stores to ensure they are the right size and located in the right areas in order to provide the best possible high street offering to its customers.

“All team members are being consulted with and we are exploring all avenues to find them suitable alternatives.”
