A telecoms company in Weston-super-Mare has raised more than £1,000 for the town’s lifeboat service by organising a golf tournament.

Commsplus, based in Gazelle Road, has been working in Weston for more than 25 years and started supporting the RNLI when managing director Steve Collard took part in a fundraising swim for the charity.

This year the firm held a golf day at Worlebury Golf Club, where nine
teams of four players competed in a game of Texas Scramble.

The competition means all four players’ drives contribute to the overall score.

Commsplus then hosted an evening meal and auction, raising £1,000 for the RNLI.

A Commsplus spokesman said: “Commsplus would like to extend a personal thank you to all the teams
who attended.”

The charity is currently fundraising to build a new lifeboat station in Weston, although it is still trying to find the best location for it.
