TUTTO – the new eye-catching £1.8million restaurant on Weston seafront - is set to open its doors to the public next month.
This week the Mercury brings you an exclusive look inside the eatery, built on the site of the former tourist information centre in Beach Road.
As these images show, work on the Italian restaurant is in full flow and on course to finish in time for the beginning of the summer season.
Owners Giulio Ellis and Alistair Mead gave chief reporter Charlotte Richardson and photographer David Kenneford an exclusive glimpse of the ‘theatre-style’ restaurant.
The name of the restaurant, which means ‘all around’ in Italian, has been revealed publicly here for the first time.
The ground floor is built to a theatre-style concept, with diners able to view the chefs at work.
In one corner is an ice-cream parlour selling creations put together at Puxton Park near Weston, like candy floss and toffee apple flavours, as well as the more traditional cream and milk-flavoured Jersey Girl.
Upstairs is a continuation of the restaurant, with a balcony on which to enjoy panoramic seafront views.
Mr Ellis said: “I’d like to think people will come to us for a coffee and ice-cream on a Sunday, as well as a glass of Champagne on the balcony or a meal.
“I don’t think there is anything like this anywhere else in the country.
“Because of the fantastic shape of the restaurant we have had to use specialist materials.
“There has been a huge cost involved – but we hope it will be worth it.”
After 7pm staff will not be allowed to serve alcohol without a meal – but Mr Ellis insists they are creating ‘a restaurant and not a pub’ anyway.
The hoardings are due to come down in a couple of weeks and the owners hope they will be ready to trade next month.
