WESTON’s premier theatre has been given top marks by online global travel guide TripAdvisor.

The Playhouse has been awarded the certificate of excellence – an award which can only be earned through consistently receiving outstanding reviews and feedback relating to customer service and all-round quality of hospitality.

The TripAdvisor scheme began five years ago and rates the best hotels, attractions and restaurants across the globe.

After 18 months of investing in new acts and a £47,000 makeover, The Playhouse received the award for the first time ever this week.

Playhouse manger Mark Thompson said: “We’re delighted to have received the certificate of excellence award, which is recognised around the world and issued to attractions which have received fantastic reviews from its visitors continuously.

“This award belongs to both my team, who work incredibly hard and long hours to ensure that the venue offers the best service it possibly can, and to the Friends Of The Playhouse volunteers, who give up their time to support us in our mission to ensure that everyone who visits the venue has a positive and enjoyable experience which starts as they enter the building not when the show starts.

“My thanks go to my team for their incredible passion and loyalty to the venue, to the Friends Of The Playhouse for their continued support and for ensuring that everyone who attends is met with a welcoming smile and lastly, to the thousands of visitors who attend our venue every year.”
