Worle will lose yet another bank, as Barclays has confirmed it is closing its branch.

HSBC and NatWest have pulled out of Worle this year, with both saying they have fewer customers as people have turned to online banking.

Barclays, in High Street, will close on March 9, 2018.

Richard Stockland, community banking director for Somerset, said: “At Barclays Worle branch, customer usage has continued to decline and additionally 79 per cent of our branch customers are also using other ways to do their banking such as online and by telephone.

“On average more than half (59 per cent) of our customers now regularly use alternative branches and this figure is even higher for our business customers, which is why we have taken the difficult decision to close the branch.”

The change will leave Worle with only Lloyds bank and Post Office services.
